Audi A5 Cars

The A5 marks Audi's return to the mid-size coupé market since the (B3/B4) Audi 80-based Coupe model ended production in 1996. The B6/B7 A4 spawned a convertible variant but not a coupé. For the fourth generation A4 (B8), Audi decided to spin off the cabriolet and new coupé into a nameplate of its own as the A5.

The new A5 and B8 A4 were based on the Audi MLP platform (Modular Longitudinal Platform) which is planned to underpin the next generation A6 and A8. The platform is notable for its departure from Audi's trademark "overhung" engine mounting position over the front axle, in favour of the powertrain being located behind the front axle - in an effort to achieve a more even weight distribution (52:48)[1] between the front and rear wheels.

The A5 is the third coupe in Audi's line-up, next to the second-generation TT and the R8. The A5 has adopted many design elements of the Nuvolari quattro concept. The A5 debuted with the 3.2-litre FSI V6 engine delivering 265 PS (195 kW; 261 hp).

Mikkola made the rally debut of Audi's revolutionary second-evolution Sport Quattro within days of the design being accepted by FISA. Some 20 examples have been built and the team hope to make the World Championship debut in Finland on the 1000 Lakes, but for a trial run, Mikkola was sent to the Olympus Rally in America last weekend and duly won with ease.

During the AWA Clarion Rally of New Zealand, Audi's team manager Roland Gumpert made public for the first time many of the fundamental design objectives, aimed at regaining for Audi a competitive edge against recent four-wheel drive designs, especially from Peugeot.

"The main disadvantage with our first-evolution car was that too much weight was over the front axle. This is because the back of our production-based car has been designed to take baggage, which is not needed in rallying!

The Audi Q7 is 5,089 mm long and has a 3,002 mm wheelbase. It provides generous interior comfort, a cargo volume of up to 2,035 liters, and unsurpassed variability. The customer can order an interior with six or seven seats. Many improvements down to the smallest details enhance personal comfort – including interior lights in the door linings, an inlay on the passenger side, and new colors as well as materials.
