Opel vectra

The Opel Vectra is a large family car that was engineered and produced by Opel, the German subsidiary of General Motors (GM). In the United Kingdom, the car was sold under the Vauxhall marque as the Vauxhall Cavalier and later as the Vauxhall Vectra, from 1995 onwards. It has also been sold by Holden in Australasia as Holden Vectra, and Chevrolet in Latin America as Chevrolet Vectra.The Vectra was introduced in 1988 as a replacement to the Opel Ascona and itself was replaced in 2008 by the Opel Insignia, which will retain the Chevrolet Vectra name for the Latin American market.

The Opel Insignia from the 2003 Frankfurt Motor Show was a luxury car concept of large proportions.The quality feel starts with the outside and the front end. The impressive radiator grille milled from solid aluminium features the Opel badge and feeds air to a 344bhp V8 powering the rear wheel drive Insignia. The grille is framed by diamond shaped LED head lights, set out in three rows, and lower intakes each divided by a slit-like driving light.

The rounded cabin of the Insignia, lacking any B-pillars, flows smoothly into the rear panel which features a V-shaped centre line. The rear quarter panels display a prominent shoulder line emphasising power and the Insignia's rear wheel drive character.The Insignias most striking features are its rear doors opening via a 'pantograph' mechanism, this allows the doors to slide backwards parallel to the body, improving accessibility in confined spaces, however there are no ugly rails needed on the exterior for the doors to side down.

Opel has designed the Insignia's interior with quality materials to give a luxurious expensive vibe. The colours and shapes are almost retro in appearance, especially the dark brown leather seats with their pincushion detail. The Insignias four separate seats are distinctly divided by a high, full length center console inlaid with Macassar ebony wood.

Opel Corsa is available in variants of 1.4i Base, 1.7DTi Base, 1.8i Base, 1.4i Club, 1.7DTi Club, 1.8i Club, 1.4i Sport, 1.7DTi Sport, and 1.8i Sport. Base version of the car is available at Rs 5.35 lakh.

E-TEC engine of Corsa is one of the fastest engines in its category. It is offered with variants - the 1.4 liter and the 1.6 liter. Both are microprocessor controlled Multi-Port Fuel Injected machines. The optimum power and torque of the 1.6 liter engine is 92PS/5600 and 126 Nm/3200 respectively. The 1.4 liter produces 88PS/6000 and 110 Nm/3200.

The Opel Vectra was one of the first aerodynamically advanced cars of those years in the eighties. One of the latest car of the company to be successful is Opel Insignia which is one of the best car in medium size sedan segment. Even the Opel Astra has done well for itself in the European Markets. The company in future is looking forward to the production of light commercial vehicle. The Opel Ampera holds the key to the future designs of the Car Company. The Vauxhall Zafira Tourer diesel engine range includes three versions of Vauxhall Euro 5 compliant 2.0CDTi common rail unit, even in the Insignia and Astra found. Power outputs start with a choice of either 110PS or 130PS, while the most powerful engine has been upgraded to produce 165 hp.

The petrol range comprises a smaller 1.4 Turbo unit produces 140PS and a naturally aspirated 1.8-liter 140hp. Availability of start / stop on some gasoline and diesel engines will be announced later this year.

Six-speed transmission is all 1.4T and 2.0 CDTI engines equipped with the option of a six-speed automatic on certain models. A five-speed manual ‘box is equipped with the 1.8-liter gasoline engine.The Opel Zafira Tourer will make its world premiere at the 64th International Motor Show in Frankfurt am Main, September 15 – 25, 2011.
