Infiniti g37
Today the best of convertibles comes from manufacturers like Audi, VW, BMW, Mercedes, Lexus and of course Infiniti. My drive today is the Infiniti G37 Convertible which is a stand out. The sleek lines of the exterior are close to the sensuous design of the G37 Coupe. The best in the Infiniti G37 is the interior. Normally a convertible lover like myself does not care that we can perform. We just want the wind and sun. Sure you get this with the Infiniti G37 but the exhilarating power is amazing. Wards awarded Nissan and Infiniti for over ten year their V 6 as one of the 10 best engines manufactured.. Yes it is and the fact that that with so many superb features the Infiniti G37 is one of the best hard top convertibles made.
The power of the G37 G Convertible is spectacular. The engine is an upgrade from the previous award winning engine. The newest engine is more fuel efficient and more powerful. So many new feature allow this to happen including more air into the cylinders from the start of acceleration, VVEL technology delivers a quicker response for instant power. The Infiniti G convertible has a 7-speed automatic transmission. More gears and Drive Sport means you always have the optimum selection for quick and responsive acceleration. And the 7th gear allows lower-rpm cruising for greater fuel efficiency. Adaptive Shift Control optimizes the automatic transmission for smooth and seamless shifting. For a more hand-on connection, switch into manual mode with Downshift Rev Matching and use the available solid magnesium paddle shifters. Or opt for the 6-speed manual transmission and take direct control of every shift.
If you order the sport package you get massive 14-inch front brake rotors with 4 piston front calipers that grab faster with finite control. All models have 4-wheel Anti-lock braking system that is enhanced by brake assist, which helps apply the maximum braking you need to prevent a collision. The optional Preview Braking function uses the available Intelligent Cruise Control laser to detect a rapidly slowing vehicle ahead, then pre-pressurizes the braking system in anticipation of emergency braking.
The Infiniti G Convertible is rigid because the engineers wanted it to feel like a coupe. The rigid body structure plus dampening, independent front and multi-link rear suspension make the ride smooth. Dual flow path shock absorbers help create a synchronous bond that makes handling as agile as it is effortless.
The designers wanted the convertible top to help the G convertible keep the sensual lines of the G coupe. They did this by designing a three-piece power retractable hardtop is engineered to open and close in an unconventional clamshell manner to minimize bulk when folded, creating a slimmer, more appealing exterior look. It opens and closes smoothly and efficiently while leaving room for luggage in the trunk.
The interior of the G convertible is outstanding. The G convertible is a real four seater with luxurious and supple leather. Elegant materials trim the doors and seats. Infiniti offers maple as an option to further enhance the elegant interior. The one I drove had the amazing red interior color on the seats. Spectacular!
All the amenities one would expect come with the standard or Sport G convertible. Optional for both models is the Infiniti Hard Drive Navigation System with a 7-inch color touch screen, Lane guidance and 3-D building graphics. XM Navigation Traffic with real time traffic information.
Driving with the top down is a dream. If there is good weather I drive with the top down always. When the top is down the wind and sun help make the drive a joy. Enhancing the experience is the Infiniti adaptive climate control system that adjusts the temperature according to outside temperature and you speed. When it is warm outside and you are slowing don, the system increases A/C output to cool you down as the refreshing wind diminishes. When the top is down the computers in the Infiniti G convertible scan continually all the systems. If the Infiniti G has an impending rollover detected, dual pop-up roll bars engage automatically behind the rear seats to help protect occupants.Further safety features will help occupants in an accident. The G Convertible features unique door mounted curtain side-impact supplemental air bags, in addition the Infiniti Advanced Air Bag System, which includes dual-stage supplemental front air bags with seat belt and occupant-classification sensors, which adjust their inflation rate depending on crash severity, seat occupancy and seat belt usage. If the front-passenger’s seat is empty, a sensor sill deactivate the air-bag. Front seat-mounted side impact supplemental air bags also help provide additional protection for front occupants. In addition thanks to Zone Body construction in an accident risk of injury is reduced.
A safety feature that Infiniti introduced years ago is stability control or as they call it Vehicle Dynamic Control. The system helps correct oversteer or understeer by applying brake pressure to individual wheels and adjusting the engine’s power output. The Traction Control System included helps enhance rear-wheel grip when accelerating by sensing wheelspin and automatically reducing engine output and / or braking the spinning wheel. The pricing for the base model is $44,500.00. The price for the G model Sport is $48,950.00 and for the G37 Convertible Limited Edition is $56,750.00.I love the present models of the Infiniti G Convetible but look forward to even more. That will be the Infiniti Performance Line (IPL) G Convertible which debuted at the Paris Auto Show. It features unique aerodynamic styling, a performance IPL-Tuned V6, exhaust and suspension, 19-inch IPL aluminum alloy wheels, three –piece retractable hardtop and a dramatic red leather appointed interior.“The Infiniti Performance Line is designed to push the premium performance envelope for buyers seeking a higher level of exclusivity and driving exhileration,” said Infiniti Vice President Ben Poore. It is a spectacular convertible. Closest competition is the Lexus and the Mercedes E 550 Convertible.
